Camp Hinterkind
Collaborative Project: Meet the Team
Camp Hinterkind is a graphic design history project that draws from Swiss International Style and Bauhaus design philosophies to imagine a hypothetical children’s summer camp based in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Rooted in principles of clarity, structure, and functional design, the project reinterprets traditional modernist systems for a playful, educational context. Camp Hinterkind envisions a space where children learn art and design through hands-on making, exploration, and visual thinking—connecting foundational design principles with the freedom of creative expression. Set within a natural environment, the camp reunites children with both design history and the outdoors, fostering curiosity, experimentation, and a renewed sense of creative play.
